Incarcerated West Coast rapper X-Raided returns with a new video to accompany his new album Pyschoactive 2, the sequel to his groundbreaking debut. Released April 29, 2014 on RBC Records, Psychoactive 2 features the handy work of industry veterans Robert Rebeck of Chapman Recording and Brian “Big Bass” Gardner of Bernie Grundman Mastering to engineer X-Raided’s most polished project to date. The album features the much anticipated reunion of X-Raided, Brotha Lynch Hung, and C-Bo on the song “Reason of the Siccness” as well as a follow up to the storied Sacramento classic Mista 357, from C-Bo’s Til My Casket Drops. For the reup X tells the story of his gun coming to life to plot against him. In his own words:
“Part 1 is on C-Bo’s “Til My Casket Drops.” We wrote that song from the perspective of the gun. I only do that on the chorus this time. The gun is telling you straight out, it has no love for the person in front of or behind the trigger. The verses, on the other hand, are written from my first person perspective. I’ve been arrested for murdering my lady. During the interrogation, I try to explain that I didn’t kill her; the gun literally did it on its own and forced me to dispose of the body at gun point. The detective has to be thinking I’m either insane or high out of my mind. That is, until the end when the gun starts talking to him and frames him for killing me. The camera was rolling but didn’t catch the detective’s hands. All they see is that I was shot. I’d like to think that this is one of the best executed stories in hip hop history.”
The concept for the video was a collaboration between X-Raided, the song’s producer Filthy Rich, and the Director of the video, Del’Vinci of PhotoFittness Films. X-Raided’s part is played by 4rax of the Oakland production duo The Mekanix.
