December 10, 2014 – Koreatown’s electro hip-hop ambassadors Far East Movement team with Yahoo Music to premiere the second part of their mini documentary series which delves deeper into the 1992 LA Riots as experienced by the old and new K-town community. The group teamed up with their hometown LA Weekly to premiere part one of the series.
The short documentary pieces were created in conjunction with their KTown Riot EP released on October 28th via Cherrytree Records. The inspiration for the projects came from their Los Angeles hometown to pay homage to the K-town community and culture.
In partnership with Transparent Agency, the poignant mini documentary series centers on the melting pot of Los Angeles in Koreatown infamous for its nightlife and flossy yet gritty clubs. This unique story is retold by K-town residents who were affected by the 1992 LA Riots, had to rebuild the community, and pave the way for the next generation. The group gives the spotlight back to the community that raised them and acknowledges the sacrifices and progressions in their culture. The two part mini documentary features Roy Choi, OG Chino, Dumfoundead, DJ Zo, Paul Kim, Damien Yoon, Peter “Scrappy” Lee, Alan Cha, Eddie Lee, John Kim, Sonny Kang, Andy Park, David Kim, Daniel “DPD” Park, and Cheon G. Kim.
