“Friend Or Enemy” by Black Mikey featuring Don Diego and Mitchy Slick drops 9/8
Black Mikey has been releasing music like he has limited time on earth since getting out of jail earlier this spring. The OG and street legend has been at it for a while and it’s looks like he’s making a final push towards the higher echelons of West Coast Rap. If you don’t know the name Black Mikey get your seat and your favorite cereal cause you going be here for a while. Unfortunately , the man has never reached his full potential because of some poor life decisions and some bad luck. Mikey shows his creativity and diversity on this track using all sorts of voices, styles, speeds and approaches as he literally kills the verse.
But, the man who has literally suit cases of original music never heard to the world is at it with this new single “Friend Or Enemy” featuring Don Diego and Mitchy Slick is a testament to just how good ALL of Black Mikey’s music is. Not to mention the Beat by west coast producer Cricet is what west coast and rap in general is missing these days. What’s that you ask? Nuts, plain in simple the beat slap. You feel like rolling down some windows and Saying Hello to you little friend. Cricet has been producing world orbiting slap since the days of MC Hammer. Did I mention Cricet is one of the smoothest and creative Emcees to do this? His Blue Damien LP is a trunk Platinum West Coast Classic. Don Diego also delivers a dope verse, showing why the man is STILL on the Top 25 Best Rappers in “Daygo”. The man has bars if you have never been hit with Don Diego be ready. He aint shooting blanks. He teams up on the hook with Mitchy Slick and it is one you will be singing regardless of flag. This a statement by the BRIM general Black Mikey and it can be taken as a warning to all those to know when in that part of the county have your head on that swivel.
Then you have Mitchy Slick THE Wrongkind King and West Coast Blood legend as the “Kill Shot” in this track. Mitchy Slick is arguably the best known West Coast Blood Emcee of All Time. If you dont know who this man is or the weight he carries in the game you are missing out. But Mitchy Slick is much bigger than a Gangsta Rapper. All you have to do is take a listen to his new single “Imperial”. The man sings and makes real music. Hes worked hard to overcome the non deserved tag that still follows him today. Mitchy Slick if you dont know him then you aint West Coast and you sure is shit aint a Blood. His highly anticipated sequel to “Triggeration Station” aka “Trig 2” drops soon we are told. And for the record he is also a very smart business man and a person who is in the postion to plug people into the industry. Something he did to Whitey Bulger and many many more across the country whether it be in music or their restaurant Mitchy works to make people better off and thats rare in this business. What is even stranger is that the OG has a false reputation by a handful of people in the city where he lives that he is selfish. Nothing could be further from the truth. So take a listen to the finest San Diego has to offer and if you dont know the streets or live in South East San Diego, just know this Black Mikey been shot and shot, Don Diego in the place with no release date anytime soon unfortunately and Mitchy Slick is Mitchy Slick if you dont know him again You Aint West Coast. But one thing you learn about music is it’s always new to whoever just heard it for the first time. And this song makes a dope impression of San Diego music and the life that is not put on TV for the tourists bout “America’s Finest City”
