Happy wedding day! The famous pair exchanged vows in an Italian ceremony Saturday.
Understated — it wasn’t.
Perched on an Italian hilltop, before a massive wall of flowers, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot in characteristically excessive style Saturday.
The over-the-top couple’s over-the-top nuptials featured a performance by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and more designer duds than Paris Fashion Week.
The venue was stunning — and stunningly expensive: The Forte di Belvedere in Florence alone cost the couple $420,000.
Kardashian wore a Givenchy haute couture gown and West donned a matching Givenchy tux, according to Us Weekly.
Even the newlyweds’ 11-month-old daughter, North West, got in on the haute action, rocking her own matching Givenchy dress.
Kardashian walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with her Olympian stepdad, Bruce Jenner, as Bocelli sang “Con te Partiró.”
The star-studded crowd — including model Chrissy Teigen, her crooner husband John Legend, and TV personality LaLa Anthony — broke into applause as the couple known as Kimye shared their first married kiss.
“Such a magical, romantic wedding!” momager Kris Jenner told E! Online after the affair. “I feel blessed to have my new son and his family as part of ours.”
Jenner added she’s “beyond bursting with happiness for Kim, Kanye and baby North.”
But it wouldn’t be a Kardashian affair without a healthy dose of drama — and the overexposed family didn’t disappoint.
Disgusted by the ostentatious multicountry wedding festivities, Rob Kardashian reportedly flew back to the U.S. before his sister’s special day.
The final straw for the brother came when Kardashian criticized him for not dropping any weight ahead of her nuptials, X17 reported.
“Rob said he was sickened by Kim and Kanye’s display of wealth and clothes and beauty and called it ‘superficial b——-,’ but Kim was pissed that Rob hadn’t made an effort to drop any weight over the past few months,” a source told the site.
“Rob basically thinks Kim cares about him only for his appearance and he said he’d ‘make life easier’ for her and just leave.”
In addition to the wedding, Rob skipped the rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles and a brunch at Valentino Garavani’s Paris mansion.
But he wasn’t the wedding’s only notable bold-faced no-show. The Carters — Jay Z and Beyoncé — also bailed. The hip-hop power couple instead opted to spend the weekend at the Hamptons.
A source told Hollywoodlife.com that Jay and Bey wanted to avoid an encounter with designer Rachel Roy — who is believed to be the catalyst for the infamous Solange Knowles elevator attack on her brother-in-law at the Standard Hotel two weeks ago.
“They weren’t sure about all of the media attention and it possibly being filmed for the show, but after the fight with Rachel at the Met, they decided to lay low,” a source told the site.
“Bey and Jay are working on their marriage.”
Hours after the ceremony, Beyoncé posted a portrait of Kimye with their baby.
“Wishing you a lifetime of unconditional love. God bless your beautiful family,” she wrote.
Before the start of the sunset ceremony, “nervous” first-time groom West was seen “swigging obsessively from a bottle of water,” an insider told People magazine.
“He clearly knew the gravity of what he was about to do,” the source said. “This morning he was all smiles, but as it got closer, you could see that the nerves were kicking in. It’s common for most grooms. I’ve seen it all before.”
Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. from North Miami officiated the affair, which was masterminded by celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks.
The guests — including rapper Q-Tip, former NBA star Scottie Pippen and actor Jaden Smith — were required to give up their cell phones during the ceremony.
The wedding festivities began early Saturday when Kimye and their guests arrived in Italy by private jet after an extravagant 600-person rehearsal dinner in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles on Friday night.
The bride’s sisters Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian were seen waving at a group of screaming fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the famous family.
West and Kardashian had the weather on their side for their big day. The sun was shining in Florence with temperatures over 70 degrees.
The night before the wedding, West surprised his soon-to-be bride with a rehearsal dinner performance by one of her favorite singers, Lana Del Rey.
West capped the evening with a touching speech — but Kardashian, as usual, stole the spotlight.
“He was telling everyone stories until Kim said, ‘OK, let everyone drink and do their thing now,’” a source told Us Weekly.
“Kanye kept making the cutest remarks to her. He said, ‘It’s amazing to look around this room, there are so many talented people.’”
“Then Kim said, ‘And beautiful people.’
‘Yeah, but Kim’s way more beautiful than I am talented,’” West added.
Said the insider: “They seemed so happy.”
