Drake

Big day for Drake, but this is unfortunate

San Francisco notable Rappin 4 Tay‘s “Playaz Club” is one of the more popular records to ever come out of The Bay area, so the fact that Drake thought this would go unnoticed is quite mind boggling. The opening four lines of Tay’s “Playaz Club” reads as follows:

“I got a ho named Reel-to-Reel
She got a buddy named SP 12, now you know the deal
We gets freaky in the studio late night
That’s why the beats that you hear are coming real tight
Something to roll to, something to stroll to
If you’s a playa in the game this will hold you.”

On YG‘s critically-acclaimed debut album, My Krazy Life, Drake appears on one of the LP’s standout cuts, the DJ Mustard-produced “Who Do You Love”, and opens his verse with:

“Champagne
I got a shorty name Texas Syn
She got a buddy named Young JB and now you know the deal
We turnt up in the studio late night
That’s why the songs that you hear are comin’ real tight
OVO crew, n***a, thought I told you
If you a player in the game, this should hold you.”

Pretty obvious what happened here, isn’t it. While rappers borrow flows, cadences, and lyrics from other rappers all the time, Rappin’ 4 Tay wanted to make sure he was properly credited from the moment he gave to San Francisco and The Bay with “Playaz Club”, and Drake failed to do that, so when Tay hit him with the $100,000 lawsuit, Drizzy already had his work cut out for him, and Tay won.
