After his release from prison on Thursday, Petey Pablo announced his plans to return to the rap game in a major way.
“I just want to say that I’m totally glad to be back in the race and behind the wheel of a car that has been fine-tuned for the greatest performance,” Pablo, whose real name is Moses Barrett, said in a statement. The “Raise Up” rapper added that he’s headed to the studio to work with hit producer Timbaland.
“I’m now headed to the work shop to begin what will be noted as my best work ever with one of the greatest producers of all time,” he said in the statement,”My Brother, my friend, my partner for life: mega producer Timbaland, the King!”
Pablo was arrested Sept. 11, 2010, after he was found to have a gun in his carry-on luggage at a security check at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The hip hop artist was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to take a gun onto an aircraft.
With a guilty plea for the stolen firearm charge, he was sentenced to 35 months in jail, and the other two charges were dropped.
