#MoneyCan’tBuy @FloydMayweather Responds To @50cent Video: Boxer, Rapper Continue Twitter, Instagram Feud

In the last year, former friends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 50 Cent have engaged in a nasty war of words via social media. Things reached a bit of a boiling point earlier this week when the undefeated boxer talked about rappers 50 Cent, T.I., and Nelly, and told MLive.com he’s “relevant,” slightly veiling his opinion that the three music stars no longer are.

50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, evidently heard about the comments and responded in a video on his Instagram account. Referencing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge craze that’s taken over social media for the last month, 50 Cent pledged to donate $750,000 to a charity of Mayweather’s choosing if he could read a full page of a “Harry Potter” book without flubbing.

That was 50 Cent’s way of saying he thinks Mayweather is illiterate.

Perhaps picking sides in the battle, the situation was fueled further Friday when hip-hop radio station Power 105, New York, aired some audio of Mayweather struggling to read and record promos.

It’s an embarrassing clip for Mayweather, and Power 105 likely won’t be granted an interview or an appearance from him ever again.

But Mayweather might just have the last laugh. He responded to 50 Cent’s challenge Saturday on Twitter.

Floyd Checks

Apparently, that didn’t satisfy 50 Cent, who released another clip. Forbes reports Mayweather has already earned $105 million this year, and they also estimate 50’s net worth to be $140 million. Clearly, throwing figures around isn’t going to end this feud anytime soon.

Still Mayweather will get another exorbitant check after he puts his WBC and WBA welterweight crowns on the line against Marcos Maidana on Sept. 13.
