We’re not surprised not one, tiny, bit

The cop who shot Michael Brown, Darren Wilson, has yet to make a public statement or be brought up on murder charges, but the internet has continually dug up information on him, and the latest intel might be the most interesting.

Prior to landing a job with the Ferguson Police Department, Darren Wilson was a member of a police force in Jennings– town just 4 miles from Ferguson–that was disbanded. Why, you ask? Frequent allegations of racial tension between the force and city’s residents. There was a serious difference in demograpic between both parties as well. The Jennings PD was almost all-white, whilst 89% of Jennings was African-American. Its a statistic that doesn’t always automatically imply problems between authorities and inhabitants, but several reports suggest that was not the case. A startling account from one resident of the area speaks to that.

You’re dealing with white cops, and they don’t know how to address black people. The straw that broke the camel’s back, an officer shot at a female. She was stopped for a traffic violation. She had a child in the back [of the] car and was probably worried about getting locked up. And this officer chased her down Highway 70, past city limits, and took a shot at her. Just ridiculous.
